Billable hours are a bad business model. They're not scalable and put the billing professional at odds with the needs of the client. A flat, monthly fee is easy to budget and eliminates surprises. We want to partner with your business and help you grow.
We want to know you, your business and where you're trying to go. We get inside your business to help with strategy, create processes and manage outside counsel.
As an ongoing partner, we work best with timely ongoing communication; most issues are best handled early and proactively. We want to hear from you and without the fear of being billed every time you pick up the phone.
For the past 25 years, we have developed, managed and sold real estate; started, built and sold consumer businesses; developed and licensed intellectual property; and advised clients on business and real estate matters
We work best when we can spend the time to learn you, your business and your objectives. To do this, we work under a flat monthly fee with well-defined parameters. We dig deep to come up with an engagement that fits within your budget, helps you move forward and is mutually beneficial. This is typically structured as a monthly fee on a twelve-month contract. This relationship has to be mutually beneficial so all of our agreements may be terminated with one month's written notice.
If additional work is identified a separate agreement will be drafted to cover the scope of that need. For matters such as litigation, or other work that is difficult to scope, an hourly fee agreement may be required. However, we try to keep all engagements at a flat, monthly fee.
Our deep bench of experts has a wide array of skill sets and experience. We can draw upon their guidance for individual projects or engage them with an ongoing, fixed contract.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, when Denver real estate was affordable, he redeveloped multifamily properties for rental and sale. After holding the losing bid on an apartment building, Rusty and his business partners took stock of the services that the neighborhood lacked. Realizing that dry cleaning had good margins, if operated efficiently, and that the old solvents were toxic and were being phased out, they launched Revolution Cleaners. They grew Revolution Cleaners to the US's largest sustainable dry cleaning company and sold to a private equity shop out of Washington DC. The dry cleaning chain was subsequently sold to a Fortune 50 company as they rolled up service businesses across the nation.
Rusty has represented business and real estate clients since being admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1996 working through his own firm and with boutique, Colorado law firms. He has helped clients form entities, develop real estate, manage rental portfolios, acquire operating companies, sell founder-owned businesses, draft employment agreements, structure property acquisitions and negotiate leases.
As General Counsel for a Denver-based real estate developer, he oversaw the acquisition, sale, refinance and leasing of projects in multiple states. The victim of rapid success, the company expanded without any internal legal process. Rusty created standardized documents, rules of use and structure to manage across multiple entities and properties. He also sourced and managed outside counsel to streamline information flow and reduce spend.
Stemming from his immersion in the outdoors industry, Rusty is a partner in several bike and ski companies. The growth of wearable technology has driven the growth of smart device engineering. One entity engineers and develops products for outdoors brands and one owns and licenses intellectual property to sports equipment manufacturers. The most prominent license holds the technology that fuels a helmet-mounted impact sensor that is sold by the largest bicycle company in the United States. Rusty and his partners bought Quiver Killer, a ski binding mounting system, from its founder, creating double-digit growth for the past ten years.
Rusty is driven by sitting down with operators, asking probing questions and developing actionable paths forward to achieve the business’s goals.
